a reflection on the oscars

i was super happy with the oscars this year. No global warming rants and the montages were shorter then they usually are. I was only mad about one award: Best Actress. Ellen Page should have won for Juno. I havent seen La Vie en Rose, but I bet Ellen Page was way better. You couldnt tell she was acting, it was that natural/realistic. There were a ( Read more... )

I really wanted to see There Will be Blood before the oscars, but I couldn't manage to find three hours on Sunday. I saw a little bit at work, he played the part well from what I saw. I would've chosen someone with a little tougher voice though; then again I only saw about 10 minutes. He lost a lot of weight after that movie.

Michael Clayton too; I'm not about to actually spend money on movies though, I'm past those days. Rave still should've gotten it.

At one point there was almost a rant about gay marriage, a nice save by the dike-supporters though.

John Stewart isn't funny. They might as well have had Brak host the Oscars.

As far as Juno getting best original screenplay, eh, I never saw the movie, but it looked a lot like a hipster version of knocked-up. Then again, I have yet to see it.

Hot Rod still deserved something. That movie's classic.

but it had more depth, and that doesnt change the fact that Ellen was amazing. A STRIPPER wrote that screenplay, thats impressive. But i would have picked MC over it, but still, it was more then just a hip/indie knocked up. Same general concept, not as a whole.

Yeah, Ellen was amazing and it was a good movie. I agree, more depth than Knocked Up.

However, as for Ellen not winning the academy award: Yes, she was an excellent actress but her role was the least demanding out of those nominated.

La Vie En Rose was incredible and Marion Cotillard did an outstanding job. You should see it, I think you'd like it.
