Artwork for ReverseBang 2011 [The First]

Nov 11, 2011 00:10

I had such a blast creating artwork last year, that I didn't hesitate to join the spn_reversebang again; this time around I even made two designs! It's time to reveal the first one. \o/

For those of you who don't know: in a Reverse Bang artists make fan-art which is posted anonymously for authors to choose as inspiration for fanfiction.

This was the prompt I made: #2012 Jeff's Back* [NSFW]

*See what I did there?;)

Description: Jeff's back, Jensen is in awe all over again. (This time he wants more than a one night stand.)

Based on that image the marvelous tmn1966 wrote a beautiful story which in return inspired me to make additional artwork. I proudly present:

Fic Title: Fool Hearted Man
Author:tmn1966
Fandom/Genre: Supernatural/RPS, Romance
Pairing(s): Jensen/Jeff
Rating: NC17
Word Count: 13,276
Warnings: Spoilers for S2: vague references to episode 22.

Summary: Jeff was certain people really didn’t ‘fall in love’. He’d been there, done that and all it led to was hurt. Casual was definitely the way to go.

Jensen was just as sure that falling in love was the easy part, it was staying there that took some skill. He wanted nothing more than a chance to show Jeff just how capable the heart was.

Go read it, it's so good. *chinhands*
But wait! Check out my art first? ;)

Chapter Headers

Some elements of the prompt made their way into the other pieces. For instance in the banner you can see the same songlyrics: "I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick.

The progress in the story is also visualized in the headers; from experiences in the past (black/white) to the present with more colours.

Dividers
I love that tmn1966 wrote the story in dual point of view. To separate the different sections I made these dividers:

Extras: character cards
Here's a closer look at the images I used in the story-banner:

Credit for the original photo goes to Linda L. Ciaschini (2008)
I fiddled with it a little.

Ehm, I really changed the original quite a bit. Not that Jeff really needed work done. But I have issues. You may figure out for yourself what I did *grins* (Hint: check out the source post for a link to the original photo)

Wallpaper
Both the prompt (1024x768 pixels) and the story-banner (1575x957 pixels) are big enough to be used as wallpapers, but here's also an extra image I made as a surprise for tmn1966. It's sort of a timestamp before the epilogue, entitled "Jensen's new hobby" ;-)

(Click for bigger. That goes for all artwork by the way!)

Thank you
First I have to thank "my" author tmn1966. This has truely been one of the best experiences I've ever had in a challenge. I enjoyed every second of our frantic back and forth mailing. Your enthusiasm and kindness were heartwarming and I really felt like we were on the same wavelength (on more than fandom:). Plus you captured Jeff/Jensen exactly like I love to imagine them. Thank you for making this Reverse Bang eleventy-billion times better than I could have ever wished for! \o/

Of course I also applaud the mods of spn_reversebang for doing a great job in running this challenge so smoothly and making it fun for all.

A special thanks to my family and RL friends who as usual indulged my squeeing without having a clue about fandom :)

Last but not least: thank YOU for taking a look at my artwork!

All comments are welcome and if you are at a loss for words, whether it is out of awe, contempt or confusion, leave me a simple smile or frown? I just really love to know that you stopped by:)
