ARTpost: ReverseBang 2019-1!
For this year's first spn_reversebang I played with a random sketch I made months ago of a young Sam... I added dragons *grins* When my author pictured the smaller dragon as Dean, I squeed with joy and I wanted him to feature in the storybanner:) The fic is not just a were-dragon AU, it offers an intriguing alternate timeline from the moment Supernatural canon started all these years ago; what if John had made different choices back then? Summary: A dragon's hoard need not be all material things. John Winchester once had a thriving hoard, till an attack when his youngest son was six months old. Now his hoard is broken and his baby boy is a Locked -- unable to wear dragon-hide. Can Sam find his place in a world where he is -- literally -- the odd man out? Or will his being Locked be the key to saving not only his father's hoard, but to everything?
PROMPT
I entered this artwork in the Either category, because I wanted an author to have as many options as possible. Whether is would be RPF or SPN, I was just curious what kind of story this would inspire:)
Pairing or Gen: Gen (if pairing, S/D and J2 are cool:)
Characters: Young Sam Winchester/Jared Padalecki and dragons in the art. Would like Dean/Jensen to be in the story. If SPN would prefer pre-canon or S1-2 characters (young brothers, yay!). If RPF all CW/WB actors are welcome, as are OCs.
Short description of art: Sam/Jared is holding a tiny dragon and there's a bigger dragon next to him, curling his tail around his leg. Is this a Monster of the Week episode or an AU fairytale? Are the dragons siblings or otherwise related? Could they be shapeshifters; are those wings for show or can they fly? Where are Dean and Dad?/Where is Jensen? What is going on, author? Tell me!
Do Not Wants: no evil John Winchester, please.
Well, my author sure delivered! There are dragons and the story has a sweet John who isn't obsessed with the need for revenge. <3
SKETCHES
My original sketch was really more of a doodle of a posture than a thought-out idea. But as I wanted to do something else than papercutting for a change, I figured I would use it as a base for my first RB artwork.
Then, when I was randomly browsing online, I came across an awesome dragon and I just had to add that to the prompt:) The mini dragon just fit comfortably in Sam's arms, so there it was.
