When I watched the interview, and watched Sarah Palin ask for clarification/stumble/respond reasonably/fill-in-the-blank with whatever she actually did, before Charlie Gibson finally clarified, I said aloud "preemptive military action".
So I knew. At least I knew what Gibson was getting at. Does that make me wrong, too? If he had gone with Krauthammer's BD v 1.0, I would have thought, "Isn't that, like, ancient history?" If it had been v 2.0, I would have thought, "He's digging now." If it had been v 4.0, I would have thought, "Well, that's interesting. I hadn't thought of the Bush Doctrine in that way before."
But now that Krauthammer has clarified the many facets of the Bush Doctrine for us, I hope we get the chance for both Palin and Biden to tell us whether they agree with each version of it. I know that I agree with none of them.
No matter what it's called, it is indeed horrible policy. Further, I don't remotely align with McCain/Palin either.
True, it's relatively obvious what the general concept "Bush Doctrine" represents all things considered. I just really thought it was fairly amusing how the position of the question, not to mention the response, was similar to what the phrases "Magna Carta" or "Bill of Rights" would have delivered if in its place.
