i have to get my brain CT scanned tomorrow. i am not worried (as in it's probably nothing), but i've been having frequent, severe headaches in one highly localized area of my head recently. i have never had a scan of any kind before, brain or otherwise, so i am kind of excited/apprehensive?

Everything I know about CT scans comes from watching House, M.D.

COULD IT BE LUPUS?!?

After I got my CT scan, I got to look at some super sweet 3D pictures of my brain and they showed me all the veins and arteries and different parts and it was pretty exciting.

this is kind of what i'm excited/curious about. basically i'm holding out hope that there will be some kind of awesome secret message in the folds and squishes of my brain, like maybe the outline of a unicorn

why did you get a CT scan?

This is one area that science has got down cold, as opposed to others

Don't forget to bring a cat. It doesn't have to be your cat, since you're not having positron-emission tomography.

I mean, most hospitals will have a couple of loaner cats on hand, but they go quick.

Also, see if they'll give you a copy of your scan on disk. I want to see what your brain looks like.

gnarrr!! i didn't see this post until after my brains were already scanned.

my doctor is getting the results tomorrow, i'll ask her if she can request it for me. honestly though australia (or at least this city) tends to be pretty un-technology-oriented so even though they're a radiology clinic, i'd put the odds at 'pretty good' that they'd be like "uh, you can do that?"
