Apple for some reason really have to repakage the stuff, so the typical unix thing of removing and re-creating symlinks doesn't work anymore. I still need to see why that 'A' symlink has to exist, but I've been to the same traphole and I confirm that yeah, if you simply mess around with symlinks, your java will break.
