From here.Silver takes after his father in a lot of ways already. He has the makings of a selfish, cold, callous person later in life. He sees pokemon as tools, though at this point it's not as bad as it will become in the games. Why he sees them as tools is simple: It is how he was brought up - how he was raised. Pokemon only have value if they are strong or rare. The weak generally have no place in the world, though weak pokemon can be made to become stronger, but if they continuously fail then they are of no use. And a useless pokemon is either a dead one or abandoned ( ... )

Team Rocket and his dad are two key things in his life that Silver is proud of. He's proud of them as he doesn't see the Rockets as a criminal gang, but a powerful group to be respected and admired even through the turmoil that they are going through. He knows he's the heir, but he also knows that he can't really tell anyone about it outside his dad's work because Bad People might take him away - this was probably just Giovanni's way of silencing his son's Big Mouth as a kid. If it works, it works. At school, Silver just boasts of his dad as being the best businessman ever! Silver does want to be a person that will be looked up to and respected - he can't wait for the day when he'll be able to give legitimate orders, either, But being respected as a strong trainer is important too. As he totally is ok, All those losses that he has mean nothing ( ... )
