[AU] the Cage AU V.2!

He felt like doing horrible things to one Kaiba Seto, horrible, terrible things that did not deserve description in any polite circles, or even any impolite circles. He had to keep silent for fear of being heard, but if he had been able to growl he would have, a low rumbling angry noise. He carefully stretched his limbs, listening to the small, ( Read more... )

Seto snarled under his breath as he walked through the front door, glad that Mokuba was on a trip. The day had been awful. Not only had some idiot down in R&D set off the fire alarm - for the entire damn building, meaning he'd had to evacuate as well - but he'd had to deal with a secretary who was still new to her job - he'd give her another month to learn the filing system before he fired her for incompetence - a meeting with one of his most prestigious and thus annoying clients, a long line of urgent requests for his presence now... and Eight in the morning. On some sort of highly caffienated substance. When he was still stressing about the release of the new gaming platform in a few months time.

At this moment in time, Seto was very glad indeed he had bought the cage, otherwise he was sure he would have had to deal with a hyped-up thief when he came home on top of everything else ( ... )

Eight was tired- that was the only explanation for him sleeping right up until Seto spoke, completely missing the sound of the door opening. Realistically, Eight knew he'd had a nightmare of some form, and that was why he was shaking and feeling so... unsettled. Even so, not being able to remember what had happened in the nightmare made it worse- he couldn't go through everything that had happened to unsettle him and tell himself it couldn't happen. The worst nightmares were the ones he didn't remember."Piss off, Seto," Eight growled, voice softer than it would have been if he hadn't had a nightmare ( ... )

Seto smirked to himself as he heard the noise of the chains clinking together gently. He had been hoping to startle Eight, but the thief must have been asleep when he walked in - he could hardly believe that Eight had merely been zoning out.

He frowned slightly and brought up his coding programme and the latest version of the code for the princess in the game, and started typing, trying to make sure that no matter what the players did to the princess, her bloomers would stay firmly in place and not jump three metres to the side as they had been doing in testing.

"If you ask nicely," he said as he typed, "I might be inclined to remove the sheet."

There were a lot of things that Mello was used to in his life, and a lot of them were decidedly stranger than the things that normal people dealt with on a daily basis. Most people weren't stripped of their identity before the age of seve and put in competition with other children in order to become the next greatest detective known only by a letter-- the letter. Most people didn't look androgynous enough to cause quite a bit of confusion, and most people didn't leave the security of the orphanage they'd lived in for half of their existence to wind up joining the mafia on the desire to avenge someone they'd never really met and to murder someone they had no intention of meeting ( ... )
