• Just because he's possessive, not to mention very protective of his own, doesn't mean he doesn't manhandle what is his. Or that sometimes his possessions may need protecting from him.
• Vongola Secondo may scoff and slander, and he may actually mean the insults and general brashness, but the topic of his predecessor and his succession is a rather sore one.
• He will never admit it, but the only person he has ever looked up to was Giotto. Which is why he will never forgive the man for leaving. Never mind that Riccardo (Spade, really) chased him out.
• People of his time have learned not to mention his betrayal of Primo and the following revolt. Nor of how it seemed that Riccardo truly thought Giotto would efficiently fight back to keep his position. No one even thinks of how destructive Riccardo was when this didn't happen and Giotto actually left. We do not speak of the dark times.
• He doesn't do mind games. It's all brute violence and gore.
• All thanks to Spade and the lot of illusionists he's met that has never refuted him, Riccardo thinks Mists = lunatics, and it's best to I G N O R E their idiosyncrasies.
• Commitment to sexual intimacies is like chaining oneself to a hindrance. A satisfying and indulging hindrance, but a hindrance nonetheless. This is why Vongola Secondo was also known for his one-night-stands that result in bastards like Xanxus.
• The previous statement is ironic in that while he doesn't commit himself, he does at the very least respect others' commitments. In other words, he may be a rougish sort of lover, but he's not one to purposely fuck up relationships. Giotto and Spade's notwithstanding. That wasn't his fault.
• In retrospect, we may as well blame Giotto and Spade's relationship, as well as how Riccardo fit into that, as to why he sticks to the one-night-stands.
• CONCLUDING STATEMENT: Riccardo actually has his principles. He doesn't have many, but he honors the few he has. The very few.
