Stockholm: presentation

I woke up at 6, a half hour before my alarm.  I (finally!) showered, and put on my lucky presentation button down shirt.  I was presenting that day, and also the talks I wanted to go to the most were primarily then, so I knew there was going to be no sight seeing.  I got dressed, put on a small amount of makeup, and headed down to meet D and F, the ( Read more... )

Don't be afraid to ask questions. People won't remember you if you don't ask questions, or if you ask a normal question. If you're smart enough to be in your field at all (which you have to believe you are if you're going to stay there) you won't ask any stupid questions. But if you ask a smart question, people might remember you. If you ask multiple smart questions, people will definitely start remembering you. It sounds to me like your whole goal is to get a better reputation, so go ask lots of questions. I don't know how many of the questions you ask will be smart ones, but I know that all the ones you don't ask won't be ( ... )

I agree, but it is still scary. As it was, I was the only student that asked a question the entire conference (which I suppose automatically makes my question the best student question ;-)
