I finally had some significan results a few weeks ago in lab. Short version: it looks like if you turn prostaglandins off during the second week in development you get a significant decrease in one protein related to synapse formation in males but not females, and an increase in another protein in both sexes. Everyone in Jon's Exalted game should go to exaltedlotw and request membership. Everone else...um...I'm not dead, just very busy and spending me free time escaping real life rather than posting about it.
My review article was accepted with minor revisions and generally very positive (and charitable) comments. The lab equipment still hates me, but at least I can write.
I'll be away at the Society for Neuroscience meeting till next Thursday. However, my hotel room has free wireless, so I should be intermittantly online from Sturday night to Tuesday.
The other day Peg and I went over the second draft of the cerebellum review we're writing. In the midst of suggestiong a dozen or so changes, she said "don't get me wrong, you're better than most. You're a very good writer." Now, THAT goes a ways towards helping me get my confidence back.
