It appears Mitsuhide and I fell asleep unexpectedly, for an unnatural passage of time.

I've noticed that the number of locals has halved since I was last out in the streets. What happened? Did those beasts turn on us?

ic, event: dinosaur invasion, rpg: vatheon

More came. These were far more dangerous than the first batch that appeared and they made short work of the locals, short to say.

It must have been a difficult battle. No other invasion that Vatheon has endured resulted in this many casualties.

Though most the casualties came from the locals, it seems we foreigners escaped without a hitch. Perhaps it was fortunate you weren't witness to the battles.

Motochika! You're awake at last! Are you and father alright? [ /hnngh so worried ;; ]

We are both fine, so do not worry.

[More importantly:]

I have heard there was an attack. Are you unharmed, Gracia?

I watched over you two as best I could. I'm really glad nothing happened to you and to father.

[ She nods gravely. ]

There were a lot of attacks before the final one. The dinosaurs...they started attacking the locals. [ A sad frown. ] I saved those I could, but they have such thick hides. [ And for a hand-to-hand fighter, even with the use of magic, it was a difficult task. ] The three biggest, most dangerous dinosaurs appeared at the end of the week. All of us had to fight as a team to protect the city! They're gone now, thank goodness.

[ Gracia glanced at her bandaged hands and laughed~. ] I'm fine! I've handled much worse than this!

I am certain that you have. Yet it appears to be the hardest battle that Vatheon has fought.

[Mild amusement colours his tone.]

If you stubbornly bear any wounds, keep in mind that it is better for you to approach your father and make them known than it is for him to confront you.

Place went all Jurassic Park on us - finally - and the natives made for a nice buffet.

Kinda lucky you were zonked out, though I don't know how you could sleep through something like that.

...Jurassic park?

I could not say myself. You were involved in the battle, I take it?

A novel that turned into a film franchise. Guy thinks he can make a theme park about dinosaurs and it goes to shit.

Yeah. Went up against the T-rex.

Did you emerge unscathed?

More came and battles ensued. Bishamonten watched over us all and many survived.

Are you both well?

We are. Mitsuhide still sleeps, but we were kept safe by Gracia's effort.

Wonderful to hear. Gracia-dono is quite a strong and honorable woman.

Have you an idea what caused such a long sleep?

I suspect that it is related to the Lamufao draining our energy... an enchanted sleep. We may rouse from it hungry and aching, but we do not starve or grow weak, no matter how long we rest.

It is not an uncommon condition. Gracia herself fell into a long slumber, before she came to live with Mitsuhide and I.

["Mitsuhide" is a big, big ping.]

More beasts showed up. [A beat.] The kind that live on meat.

[He's using this correctly, right? Between his previous experience with the thing and what he's seen of others handling it, his voice should be going through.]

Unfortunate.

Had Vatheon not swept under so many warriors willing to take a stand, the city might not have survived.

[A hint of curisity seeps into his tone.]

I do not recognise your voice. You must be a recent arrival.

Seeing as it had, there's no point in thinking about what could have been. We won. You see?

[On his end of the line, he stares. This one's quite sharp.]

Seems that way, doesn't it?

[Have worse engrish as the phrase is repeated back, queryingly -- Motochika has a masterful ear as a talented and experienced musician, but no concept of the language.] You... see?

You are right. Survivors move on, and the world is kept in motion.

[If nothing else, the language quirk makes Motochika certain that his assessment is right.]

Very few go without their SFCs to hand for any length of time.
