sporadic update: completed.

so, there's been some stuff that's happened since i last posted.

i did get a job in april, it was at a signage company here in town.  i was doing front desk stuff, answersing phones, ordering materials, and what not.  but it was with a temp agency, and after three weeks, they decided they needed to sack me.  i'm not exactly sure why, because i thought i was doing alright, but it happened.  i heard afterwards from the lady who hired me, and she said she didn't agree with it or understand the reasoning of the boss.  but hey, what happens, happens.

so i picked myself up, dusted myself off, and moved on.  i applied for more jobs.  i got fired on wednesday, got another interview for friday, and got another job.

now, i'm with a local dealership selling toyotas.  it's harder than you'd think, and intimidating sometimes, but most everyone there is so nice and encouraging.  the bosses are particularly nice.  i'm glad that it's not what i thought it might have to be when i interviewed - you know, like the way i thought the job was.   lying, kind of shady.  but it's not.  it's just talking to people and finding out what they want, adn then showing them what they can afford.  the hard part is knowing all the product - i've never been a person who knew much about cars.  i'm learning.  some days are better than others.  it's a lot of standing outside at the moment until i build up a referral base, a customer base.  some of the guys who've worked there a couple of years don't have to go outside at all because they can get appointments with people, that kind of thing.  that's what i need.  standing outside for hours on end is the only part i don't like.  there's a three month trial period before i'm going to make commission.  that ends at the end of next month.

we had a big customer service event yesterday that kind of blew.  it was oppressively hot and humid outside, and it kept people away. they were expecting a big day, but it just wasn't.  so, we'll see what happens monday.

otherwise, things have been going pretty well.   we got the windows put in, which looks really nice and it's a big improvement. it took far too long for the guy who was doing it to finish it.  he got them installed in two days, but he didn't finish one window and the outside trim of one for, like two months.  we then got a storm door installed to replace our front door as well.   that should help with the draft this summer and winter.

since i have the new job, there was a big employee discount going on this month.  because of that, we were able to trade in jim's pontiac for a new prius v. it basically looks like this.

it's a very nice car and we get some great gas mileage.  we were able to get it basically for about a thousand dollars under invoice with an extra rebate, so it was affordable because of that.   dad was able to get a new corolla as well for the discount.

so that was nice.  there's been a few fun things happening here and there.  we had a big party with almost everybody in my dad's side of the family.  it was a little hectic, but it was fun.  we had food and drinks and laughs, and it was just a good time.  the only sad part is that dad's sort of girlfriend tammy tried to ruin it.  he has tried to be nice and break up with her a few times, but she didn't want to accept it.  so she lashed out online at me and my sister and then also did some shouting outside about dad and his family.  but she left after a few minutes and it didn't ruin the day.

the girls were there and had a silly string fight with the other kids.  they also had a little water balloon fight.  it was pretty fun. it was also a birthday celebration for my sister and her daughter.  they kind of had a bad attitude and stayed inside most of the day, which was odd.  kelly eventually came out and socialised, but her daughter sammy didn't at all.  she and her two friends stayed inside the whole time.  dad gave her his old car, and i gave her a digital camera set.  she was grateful for the gifts, i guess she's just a teenager and doesn't think her family is cool.  who knows.

another fun thing that happened this month was with a group i joined here in town - the young professionals.  we had a painting party and it was a blast.  my painting didn't even suck that hard.

i have also looked into joining the local lions club and the local kiwanis group.  maybe it'll help me in the new job, but it's a nice feeling to try to help people - that's one of the things i miss about the radio station.  being able to help somebody who needs it is always a good thing.  i helped out with the boys and girls club glow run recently - i was a person who directed them through the run and shouted encouragement, that kind of thing.

i thought i wouldn't hear anything from anybody about the radio staiton.  but i've heard here and there from people - most of them people i don't even know - who are asking me what happened, why i'm not there, telling me they miss me, that kind of stuff.  it's been nice to hear.  i ran into doug and he told me it took about a week for people to realize that i was gone (i could've been on vacation after all), but then the calls started.  i haven't had to see or speak to kaleb since i left, so that's good.  he was bitching up front about everything and anything, and stuff about me, but then in back he would deny it.  i really think that him sucking up to our office manager teresa and sitting up there chatting with her was a huge factor in why i was the one to go instead of him.  i know i was due for a raise and that factored in it, but i know mike discussed the matter with teresa, and i'm sure she didn't want anybody to go.... but i'm also sure that she campaigned for him to stay instead of me.

we've been hanging out a little more with my friend jim.  he's been going through a rough time, but things are starting to look up for him.  i know he's got it in him to do well, it'll just take time.  so we decided to help him out by taking in his cat, washington.

it's been a little complex to figure out working him in with the other kitties, but the hissing didn't last long.  they're okay with each other.  i wouldn't say they love each other, but they're alright.  civil, i guess.  he's a sweet kitty, very loving.  he's a talker.

another big thing happened this month (it's been eventful).

jim proposed in the nerdiest possible way.  it's not a great picture but it's a silver ring that looks like the bricks and blocks from the super mario games.

you get it.   it's pretty, and it suits me.  we haven't talked at all about the actual thing happening.  i'm in no hurry.  i know if i do something, i'd want it to be in autumn.  maybe at the park, they've got a really pretty area there that they do weddings in.

tha'ts not us obviously but you know what i mean.  it's a nice place.  maybe.  to be honest i haven't thought about it much.  i was never one of those girls who daydreamed about their wedding.  i know i don't want something huge.  something simple.

anyway.  so it's been a big few months.  big changes.  hopefully for the better.  i hope everyone is doing well out there.
