Today, I am thankful for…
1) The edgy quality that sometimes shows in
Rory Gilmore.
Alexis Bledel has serious sex appeal. It looks as though she’s posing as Rory, the character I remember to be reserved and rather modest… but she’s portraying the side of Rory on which my writing has always lingered. The side of Rory that is something more, that is sensual and knows how to express physical love. She’s the girl I’ve been writing in
Forgive Us Our Trespasses for years.
Just the sway of her hips… she’s dancing without movement. Easy-going and beautiful, she looks… free as a bird.
2) Two new sites that are captivating me and adding to my daily
procrastination pile.
SparkPeople -- I’ve set a very important goal to better myself, in all ways possible. This site is helping me to do that. Though its main focus is weight loss and toning the body, the healthy eating and good advice found in their newsletters is something I find uplifting. I am trying to instill good habits in myself, and I find that this site is helping.
Kaboodle -- This site is so wicked. At first, I thought, well I don’t have any money, so why would I want to go “window shopping”, so to speak, and record my unique finds? The reason, I learned, is that it’s fun as hell. For any shopping fanatics out there (or just plain old packrats, like me), this site is an exceptional experience.
3) The best toast
ever… has got to be banana toast. I used to eat it constantly as a child, and now I’ve been sitting here all night thinking of how long it’s been since I’ve had some. It kind of saddens me, for this is very good toast. My Scottish grandma and I shared a love for it, and she once revealed to me that she knew President Clinton enjoyed banana toast, too.
I know that from its name it sounds like you toast a piece of banana bread, but no. No, the actual thing is made of toasted slices of white bread, with margarine spread on top, and then layered with cut-up bananas. The thought of it sounds so gross, and yet, mm! Delicious.
