it's that time again

My favorite sentence so far at work today:

"It is a typical autumn weather during Bailu period, when wide gooses begin to emigrate to the south and birds start to stock food for the long winter time."

The narrow gooses give them a head start, just to be fair.

Apparently there is a Chinese system for dividing the year into 24 mini-seasons, each with its own rules for what to do and not do. Bailu is the mini-season between post-summer and pre-fall. It is a joyous time for wide gooses.
