guidance? i don't know how much of that i can provide, rookie.
i can warn you that you'll go through phases of loving and loathing your journal, and your writing, if you're like the rest of us, will have its ups and downs. don't be horribly concerned with having a phenomenal journal that's always entertaining-- while that is nice, it's damn near unattainable. somehow, i ended up with enthralling people on my friends list, and i always worry they'll de-buddy me any day... but they don't.
so basically, you'll be just fine, darlin'.
i do recommend finding yourself an icon... if you like, you can send me a picture of you and i'll make you one as an introductory gift.
and in any case, i shall friend you. as far as finding more friends... look at your friends' friends, and try random searches and searches by interest... there are a lot of groovy people on lj... and just as many not-so-groovy ones. you'll learn to differentiate.

so take care, roll with it, and i'll catch ya on the friends' list!
