EAD 2016 Masterpost Worry (Do You Love Me?)- Snippet, Unbetaed
Fandom: The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Pairing/Character: Ted Baxter/Georgette Franklin
Warings: None
Summary: There's one thing in this world that overcomes Ted Baxter's vanity and selfishness. Her name is Georgette Franklin.
Ted couldn’t stop thinking about that night. Georgette said she things over between them. Sure she took him back when he begged but that seed of doubt was planted. Yeah, Georgette said she loved him back but… but what if she had said it to be nice? To not hurt his feelings? How could he be-
“Ted! Great job tonight. Perfect show.” Ted glanced up to look at Murray. Murray was even turned in his chair and looking him with a smile Ted didn’t get often his way. A lot of people were smiling at him lately. Normally Ted would just soak in those admiring looks and “Great Job”s but Georgette…? Did she really love him back? He had to talk with her. He’d stop by with some flowers (yellow daisies, her favorite, she pluck one out when they were in that park on 3rd Street and put it behind her ear, golden curls wrapping around the stem) for dinner and talk.
“Ted? Are you okay? Come on Ted. Say something.” And now there was a concerned look, a real one on Murray’s face. Again, a look he was becoming all too familiar with. Not wanting to stop and chat and alleviate that look, Ted just reassured Murray that he was fine and quickly got his coat and hat. The florist on Walburg Ave would probably have those daisies.

Standing outside Georgette’s door Ted hesitated. The bouquet of daisies were wrapped in her favorite color (purple) of ribbon. They looked beautiful and all Ted could think about looking at them were the curls of her hair. Ted just didn’t ever want to give that up if she told him this time, “It’s over Ted.” How could such a simple sentence scare the living daylights of him. Him. Ted Baxter of WJM- Minneapolis-St Paul…him.
He could hear her voice through the door. She was humming and the TV was on. Her laughter broke up her humming ever so often. Maybe her favorite (and his) cartoon was playing, or one of those romance stories that always made him tear up and then spend the next five minutes pretending it wasn’t crying over some Beth and Scott finally getting together.
Ted finally knocked on the door. “Who is it?” came her voice, interrupting her humming.
“It’s Ted.”
“Ted! Come on in.” Ted took a deep breath before opening the door to the most loveliest of sights. Georgette.
