Quick (Sort of) Update

Hi All!

I've had a busy few weeks! I so appreciate all of your words of support and encouragement. It really does mean so much to me. Thank you!!

*Edit: This got WAY longer than I first intended (dude, am I wordy or what?! :) ), so to find out what I've been up to and what I'll be doing soon, please click to .

So, stuff that's happened lately (not in any particular order):

  • Newest member of the family in West Virginia was born last week. Baby Nolan Andrew Hitt is adorable and sweet and oh so cuddly. We arrived a bit too early at the hospital to see him brand new (poor girl had been there all day and ended up having to get a c-section - ugh!), but I stopped by the new mama's apartment (um, I say "stopped by" when really it was one of my usual interesting treasure hunt excursions trying to find a new place, but I DID get there eventually) a few days later and got to visit with the li'l one.

Check out my first great-grandbaby! (For some reason, that title really isn't bothering me at all. Weird, huh?) Isn't he a cutie? :)

(The rest of the set is here, if you didn't already view it from FB.)

  • On the day that Courtney (new mama - holding him, above) went to get induced, I was in the same hospital (also had to be there at 6:30am - yay) getting a diagnostic laparoscopy to check for endometriosis, which they did NOT find, though I did have my usual reaction to anesthesia (even though they did a TON of things to try to prevent it), so I was vomiting and feeling like I needed to for a few days afterward - fun. Anyway... Good News: I don't have to get a hysterectomy or other surgery to get rid of endometriosis, and we've ruled out ANYthing female-system-related. Bad News: We still don't know what the heck is causing all the nausea and pain I've been experiencing at weird times in the month. *sigh* (More on this later.)

  • On the crafting front, I made my sister, Steffany, a little pillow for her birthday. The colors are the colors of her sorority, and the materials have a meaning behind them. It was a fun little project:

(The rest of the set is here, again, if you did not see it via FB.)

  • Our washing machine decided to give up. Joy. Right as T was starting the laundry for the week, too. *sigh* We toured town, pricing them, then went to the local Scratch-n-Dent and found a great one for a lot less, but they couldn't deliver til the evening after my surgery. Anyway, he got here and all was well, but between buying a new washer and the delivery charge for getting the damn thing from there:

    to there:

... our budget is flown all to hell... again. *sigh* Ah, well. At least we had the money in the bank to GET it, right? Finding the positive, yes. Anyway, in the middle of all the shopping around, we also had to go get quarters and haul our merry butts to a laundromat to wash a few loads to tide us over til it was delivered. That was oh so much fun. Eh, whatever. Not the end of the world. First world problems, right?

    Okay, what else... Ah, yes...

  • Much Memorial Day fun was had at the River Lot. Very nice. Thanks, Allen & Tammy & Tom & Candace, for letting us hang. Very relaxing. Tom chillin' at da' lot:

  • The jungle that is our yard has started blooming. We have wild honeysuckle growing over the fence in the back and the lilies and butterfly bush are goin' nuts in the front. Speaking of, I don't even have any pics of the butterfly bush, and there are blooms all over the place - need to get on that. Anyway, here's a lovely capture (if I do say so myself) of one of the lilies:

  • Abby and I made it to the halfway mark on my walk goal. What's that in your mouth, silly goose? :)

  • Forgot to take my ADD meds and had a few nutso lists days (*sigh*):

    Okay, so... things coming up:

  • I have my first job interview (in SIX years - whoa!) tomorrow afternoon (woot!) doing actual medical transcription (woot!). It's not a full-time position (it's filling in for their regular transcriptionist, whose backup is ALSO going to be on vacation for a week in July), but it is VERY MUCH a positive in every way. It's getting my feet wet. It's getting me "out there" interviewing again. And, if I get the job, it's helping me gain confidence in doing this whole medical transcription thing and getting me REAL LIFE experience doing it - you bet yer a$$ I'm putting that week's experience on my resume. ;) It's getting my NAME and REPUTATION out there. It's an opportunity, but not a full-time pressure situation. Win/Win. So, that's tomorrow. Phew. Wish me luck on that one.

  • And... I have a CT scan on Tuesday to check out my intestines. So much fun. If, in your mind, you're picturing drinking weird-tasting gunk at least TWICE then waiting for your system to push it through to be gorgeously photographed as it passes, then, you win! Yes, that's what I'm having done. *sigh* But, since it's not female-related, we really do have to do the next step. Blech. That's Tuesday. I'll let you know how that goes.

  • Oh! I almost forgot - I'm thinking of applying for a part-time position at the library, too (with the stipulation that I'd be out that week in July for the med trans gig). It'd feel *really* good to get some income flowing. We'll see. I know it may seem incongruous with the med trans opportunity, but I choose to see it as God saying, "So, here you go for that goal, and here you go to get going on that one - make me proud!" :) So, I'm going for it all on fronts, and we'll see what happens. If the med trans thing works out and the networking brings other opportunities, GREAT. If not, the library thing will help me feel justified in starting college in the fall. We'll see what happens.

So, that's what I've been up to and what I'll be up to for the near future. How 'bout you? What have you been up to?

Feeling a bit better about the world, :)
    Cristy
