I remember reading an article during the uprising in Iran about why nothing similar has happened/would foreseeably happen in Arab countries. And now I'm wondering how much of this has to do with Iran a year and a half ago, with people thinking, "why can't that be us?" Regardless, this is a step in the right direction.

Multiple reports have been coming out saying that the pro-gov forces were actually paid to protest and that the police have largely been the ones starting the violence. Wouldn't surprise me in the least, unfortunately.
