It’s tree-trimming day here at The Lodge. I know it needs to be done, but for some reason it just breaks my heart. The only thing that makes it marginally okay is knowing that it’s my love that does all the clean up - so I say I’m doing it for him. And I know that laurel tree (that’s supposed to be a shrub but grew up into a gigantic thing) isn’t ( Read more... )

when she said they cut it back a lot... i thought good. when i got
home even i was surprised at how much they topped it. whoa! and
yes... it will be growing crazee soon enough. now we can see how much
more we got to do around the lodge. lots and lots of weeding to get
done and trimming the little guys too.

weather is really nice now Kyle... lucky lucky us.

Bud, you wouldn't want me trimming your trees. I borrowed a chainsaw and Sandy had to take it away from me in fear of me decimating the whole yard. But honestly, pruning is good for things. I used to take the rhodies down almost to the ground about every three years and they thrived!

I just had a similar conversation with my neighbor. The city is responsible for trimming the giant trees on our city street parkways, and she was fretting about them doing a bad job. She instead leaned out a third story window of the condo building next to me to trim branches too close to the building.

I think you must be kindred spirits. :)
