depends what you mean by "Trendier"
i like it because it's a lot less cluttered then xanga, and you can see your friend's pages easily (something you can't do with blogger)

the people are a lot trendier...they're more passionate about LJ than they are with xanga...i think partially because (as you said) xanga is cluttered and harder to make it pretty.
