USA Trip 2013 - Orlando

Oct 27, 2013 21:51

After New York, we headed down to Orlando! We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside...

This is the lobby of the hotel as we were all checking in!

We had so much fun getting photos with the characters at the parks

Typhoon lagoon was so much fun. We hired a cabana for the day, so we had a little locker to put our wallets and phones in, and comfy chairs and shade, and staff who brought us our lunch and snacks. It really did add to the whole experience, having the cabana.

We had dinner at The Polynesian, which was sooo good. Amazing salad, huge amounts of pulled pork and beef ribs and chicken, and dessert we could barely even touch, we were so full. The after dinner show was fantastic!

We checked out Hollywood Studios. We got to go on the Rock'n'Roller Coaster, which I'd been hanging out for since the first time I went on it. The 20 minutes stuck in the queue when we didn't move at all wasn't so fun. We went on the Haunted Mansion ride quite a few times, which is always fun. I also went on the Hollywood Tower ride for the first time ever. I loved it! I didn't think I'd stomach it as well as I did, but it was great.

More character photos

The next day, we went and had breakfast at Animal Kingdom, and got more character photos

We went on Expedition Everest. It was easily my favourite ride at Animal Kingdom, though I've gotta say, my dentist recommending I try 1/4 of a motion sickness tablet was much appreciated. It was enough to keep me from feeling ill, but not enough to make me sleepy

More characters, again

We also got to spend a day at NASA

Everything about NASA was amazing. It's just so good seeing what people can do when they put their minds to it, and seeing what we've accomplished. Just... wow

We spent another day at Disney, at the Magic Kingdom, and then spent a couple of days at Universal Studios. I've gotta say, Universal is nowhere near as good as Disney is, but we had fun on a few things. The Transformers ride was great, and the huge screens didn't put me off too much, which was good. We did go on The Mummy Ride a few times, which was so much fun.
We were heading out from the park, and bumped into their Blues Brothers guys. This guy was hilarious - he told me his friend sells Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remotes!

We went back the next day, and checked out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was amazingly well done, but I would never go on their big ride again. I had to keep my eyes shut for a lot of it. THey have humongous screens that they project things onto, like the view as if you were riding your broomstick through hogwarts. The motion on the screen made me ill, far more than the physical motion of the coaster did.

We did get to go on the Hulk coaster a few times. I looove this ride so much. It's one of my favourites

On our last day there, Stu ended up leaving at 2am so that he could fly to Charlotte for his road trip, to meet me in Denver. My last day in Orlando was spent at Gatorland!

After all of that, we finally headed to Atlanta, and Dragon Con!!
