i truly dislike elitist behaviour. Just because someone's not going to a uni you like, or uni at all doesn't make them any worse a person. >_> aih- that kind of behaviour just irks be immensely and it'd be much better if the world could do without it _> No reason to dislike someone if they haven't even done anything to you! that lady's disliking you just for being. >_> >_> >_> dodge.

The last generation is like that, they are stuck in their preconceptions of who are the good races and who are not. IRONICALLY its exceptionally bad in asian families. When I think of racism in Australia, the most immediate and obvious NEGATIVE example would be somebody like Pauline Hanson and her One Nation party. Rural white Australians who 'haven't been brought up to know any better'. But the reality of it is that bigotry can be the worse right in our own homes. My olds would have something different and negative to say about ANY and every race - my mum will never fully be happy until I am going out with a devout Chinese Catholic girl... Elise's parents and a lot of the filo community in the Western suburbs it seems, live under baseless preconceptions regarding 'what Australians are like'... in regards to morality. snippet from psych book...culture imparts much of what is to be prized, as well as what is to be rejected or dispised. culture teaches a point of view about it means to be born of one or another gender, race, or ethnic background. culture teaches us something about what we can expect from people and what we can expect from ourselves. indeed, the influence of culture on an individual's thoughts and behavior may be a great deal stronger than most of us would acknowledge at first blush.
sigh...i'm only up to chapter 2 on the pscyhological measurement part. theres so much reading!!...urgh...well anyways...good luck with QM on tuesday
