Trials and tribulations... in food.

So, as everyone on here knows, or should know, I will eat pretty much everything. And, in fact, I enjoy pretty much all of that everything. There are a *very* few number of foods that I will eat and then be unhappy about eating them. This is why ordering at a restaurant is so difficult for me. I like all the food, and I know that I will be happy ( Read more... )

Do you like Uni? It's one of the few foods I can't stand.

actually, yes. I enjoy uni. The taste is a little odd, but it grows on you after awhile. I've always maintained that it tastes like the produce section of the supermarket smells, to me.

I said the same thing too. I suppose it is something you could get used to, but I thought it was a rather wretched taste - much better as an odor.

Do you think it may have anything to do with the texture of the foods? ~E

Nope. I don't have a chance to register the taste or texture before my body is all, "GET THAT CRAP AWAY FROM ME!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! *BLAARFDGDFGDFG*"

I can eat natto, and it's the same kind of texture as satoimo. I can eat tobiko, and it's the same texture as tarako.

I hate both natto and uni. When I ate uni, I felt like I was eating sand. Not the texture I normally seek in sushi...

I am SO with you on taro. It's mealy and bland. Yuck.

whoa, really? you had uni that was *sandy*? It's supposed to be creamy and smooth, not gritty at all. That's weird.

Natto was more of an acquired taste. It's very good with rice and soy sauce.

Oh, that sounds terrible! Take care, and maybe you should stock up on the peppermint tea a bit? It helps settle my stomach wonderfully (and my stomach isn't as nice as yours with the 'I eat everything except two things stiche) so you may want to try it after a Close Tarako Encounter. I'm sure you'll find some good stuff there!

Oh don't worry, most food here is fantastic and I eat it with abandon. Mmm, spicy pickled eggplant
