Sad. Not the best GenCon ever by any stretch and I liked the refrance to Shadowrun. Never trust an elf Never deal with a dragon watch your own back Find your own truth.
I remember getting the original Shadowrun book and finding it interesting, but never really got the chance to play. Knowing I have a fox who is an expert is cool enough, I guess. =)
I love the way you came up with to use the prompt:)
Also, this sounds like a lot of fun! I like how you were able to cover a lot of ground without making the entry really long. That takes skill and is something I need to work on.
My son wants to go to a sci-fi convention SO BAD. Maybe next year..
Cons can be a lot of fun for kids (local fan-run shows are best, unless you're up for the Disneyland-on-steroids experience of the really big cons like GenCon, Comicon or Dragoncon) but unless he's a grown-up, make sure adults are along. Besides, you'd enjoy it, too.
For the most parts, cons have gone well for me. I am reminded of a friend who gets heavily involved in the local convention, even though it comes on the anniversary of a very dark time for him. He told me once that the sadness does try to take him, even when he's in the midst of all the fun of the con, but he credits the positive vibes of like-minded people that surround him there as what helps him through.
