Really bittersweet! I love how the narrator folds the joyful memories into the current sadness. And the opening is terrific - great hook!

I must confess to not knowing what an eggshell foam mattress is though...

I search-engined the term to make sure it wasn't an only-what-we-call-it thing, and "eggshell foam" or "eggshell mattress" does seem to be the common term for a layer of foam mattress material that looks not so much like eggshells but what eggs would be packaged in, there's a picture of one here

Ooooh. I know what you're talking about now. But I've never actually used one or seen one used for anything other than packaging goods in a box - I had no idea you could get them big enough to sleep on! But that's the great thing about Idol - last season I learnt about duck tape and now I know about eggshell mattresses!
