The sacrifice angle didn't come to me at first, even though I knew I was breaking canon by having Pooh be so well-spoken. But I couldn't help but picture him as speaking candidly as a 1920s English gentleman (gentlebear?). In the process of writing this, the inspiration of the "bargain" revealed itself when I decided that he would have to talk about the H-B to Mr. Milne, as one should always get the grownups involved when a bully has gotten too aggressive.
