Thank you so much. After writing and tweaking a story for a long time, it becomes rather technical and it's difficult to judge how the writing will be received on an emotional level. Thank you for leaving a comment to settle that issue! ;)

This story hits on a lot of my personal favorite tropes - sacrifice, worry, being forced to watch, helpless to intervene, rescue in the nick of time.

It's a brilliant telling - I don't remember breathing while I was reading it. And the unexpectedness of the "gotcha" was even more brilliant, without being gimmicky or unrealistic.

Brava! I can't wait for the next part.

I think at this point everything has been done about a dozen times in the WhiCo ficdom, and I'm often reluctant to be repetitive. But the concepts of friendship, sacrifice and everything else you list always work for me, especially in the context of Peter and Neal and their unconventional relationship. If I can put a personal spin on the old clichés, then I'm all for them. I'm glad the story is pushing the h/c buttons it was intended to push and I'm happy you've enjoyed it so far.

second, Bwahaha! I currently live in Tally. And, yes, i too dislike it greatly. I will be leaving said place in just a few short months. Now, i have both a love of fedoras and a dislike of Tally in common with Neal Caffery. Nifty.
