The purpose? Oh, I'm not entirely sure. I'm also not entirely sure it's exactly appealing. It's more an examination of what happens after a break up for me.

I guess it's the act of severing a monogamous relationship. If I'm sleeping with someone else, it's really over, or at least I'm taking active steps to make it really over. I have become a very emotional person when it comes to sex where I have not always been previously. The fling is mostly a way of trying to break the emotional connection of sex.

It is not always effective, but it does help at times.
