Missed birthdays and missed friends
I checked an account that I used to use and saw reminders for some birthdays. I'm a terrible friend because I forget them all the time. I only remember on friends birthday in particular because my dad passed away on her birthday one year. I'll never forget her birthday again.
Anyway, I saw a reminder for 8/17 for my friend Keona. She passed away about three years ago. Apparently her Lupus got so bad she went into a coma from which she never woke up.
I miss my friend. Keona was a true NY. She could be a pain in the ass one minute and kind and sweet the next. We met at Glam Slam in Minneapolis. Two Prince fans who left there native homes just to be in the same airspace as our favorite entertainer. I've said before I used to be crazy. I am not ashamed of my insanity
Our meeting was caused by Bruce Willis and Prince.
You see, Prince performed an impromptu gig at the club on one of the clubs slower nights. Now any other night Key would have been at the club, but she decided that she was going to do something different, besides, this wasn't a "Prince night" so it was safe to go some place else. Wrong...so so wrong. She went to the movies to see a movie Bruce was in. I can't remember for the life of me which one, and for that matter she never did either. She must have heard about the show a day or so later and called the club to ask if he would be performing again any time soon. She was so upset, I couldn't help but offer her a comp night at the club. She came and we met and became friends. She was quite angry with Bruce for some time, though. LOL
We both eventually moved back to our native homes. She to NY and me to MIA. She worked on being and Interior Designer and had a great knack for it.
Keona Teresa Ann Evelyn, you are truly missed. *muah*
