Is Apocalyptica. Oh. My. God. This Finnish Cello Metal band is so different from anything out there, they are completely awesome! From their instrumentals to the colaberations with other great artists - including Adam Gauntner from Three Days Grace, Nina Hagen and Cristina Scabbia and their guest lead singer for their US tour last year, Toryn Green ( Read more... )

I was introduced to this group a few years ago, and fell in love, they are so very very good

Absolutely! I feel like I've been living under a rock not to have heard of them prior to last December. But then... I am in Milwaukee where the radio stations only play what's popular.

Hard rock cello, that is certainly different. I like it.

Rammstein did it so much better. But, then again, Seemann is one of my favorite Rammstein songs, so it seems weird to me without Till singing, and I am thus really biased.

I may look around for other songs from Apocalyptica, though. I thought 30 Seconds to Mars sucked when I heard them the first time, and it was just that I happened to hear one of their worst songs...then later I stumbled upon some of their other stuff and realized I loved them. Same thing happened with Gackt. So you never know...

Hey Jaimie. :D

Apoc originally recorded this with Nina Hagen doing the vocals - scary German lady with big freaky eyes. This is the best I've heard the instrumental. They have toured with Rammstein in 2005 and there is a You Tube of them backing them up in Paris on Mein Herz Brennt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTLjJdXcvXY - Fantastic. Also, on their last album, Till did singing duty on the song Helden by David Bowie - Also Awesome! If you want more examples - check out my My Space page. ;)

Cool! Thanks for the links. I found a couple of videos of them doing Ohne Dich together (also in my top ten favorite Rammstein songs), but the sound was craptastic. :( I could barely hear it and there was too much distortion, but it sounded like it would have been good if the quality on youtube were higher. I'll see if I can get the MP3 of Helden, though. Mmm...Till...

You're welcome. :D I've found a couple of other videos on YouTube that are more fan made videos for Helden. I don't think they ever officially made a video for that song.

I just love all of their music - so different and unique. Plus they are awfully cute. ;) Always a plus. :p
