Wow. Well, Supernatural certainly was amazing. And. . . . I TOLD YOU SO. MUAHAHAHAAAA!
I vote we rename this episode: "WHEN CHARACTERS GO BAMF!!"
Alright, so first we have the giant implication that God exists and he's still pulling strings. Zachariah looked pretty terrified by that idea. Also, how hilarious was it that de-powered Cas was ten times more kickass than powered Cas? Like, he took out two angels and scared Zach shitless. Awesome.
Speaking of awesome, Dean is indeed Michael's sword - the archangel Michael's vessel - which is so, so cool and something I know many of us have been predicting for a while. The catch is, that in order to be wielded by the archangel (insert dirty joke here) Dean has to agree to it, which is something he wont do at this point. Instead, he decides to fight the war on his own terms against both the bad angels and demons on behalf of humanity.
When I heard this a light bulb went off, because, this is what I think God's plan really is. I think that God is weeding out the disloyal -- and by that I mean the disloyal everything: human, angel, and demon. Those who side with Dean will, in effect, be siding with God.
Did anyone else notice that Meg was also seriously freaked out by Dean, I mean, the man killed her helper!demon really quickly and instead of staying to face him, Meg booked it. I think that being Michael's vessel is a big deal (at least the equivalent of being Lucifer's vessel because the two angel's are brothers) and that there is some kind of inherent power to it. I wonder if the fact that Michael is the General of Heaven's Army means that angel's will be flocking to Dean? I'm also happy that the character of Meg came back, the actress wasn't bad . . . though what is it with everything that has a vagina trying to kiss Dean? That is soooooo last season.
We also saw a huge evolution in Dean's character: that he isn't relying on Sam anymore. Throughout the entire episode Dean's quiet acceptance of Sam's betrayal and unleashing of Lucifer had me on the edge of my seat because I felt something BIG building beneath that silence. Dean's words to Sam, when they came, were like an assassin's bullet: "I don't trust you."
WOW.
Where does their brotherly relationship go from there? Honestly at this point I think Castiel is going to step up and fill in Sam's place as the person that Dean trusts to have his back. Sam meanwhile is going to be dealing with a lot of guilt. From Sam's actions during this episode I feel as if he wants to be punished for what he did. I also think that, in a way, he's finally gotten what he's always asked for: he's alone and he can make his own choices. Except the first time he did that, he made a bad choice that led to the Apocalypse. I feel that Sam's theme for the season is going to be redeeming himself, first in his own eyes and then in the eyes of his brother.
Now, Lucifer - I love, love, love Mark Pellegrino who is playing him. Did you know that he was originally slated to play Castiel but then Misha Collins came along and that was that. Cool, right? He's very good at playing smooth, charming, and sympathetic characters that really connect with a viewer. So, I'm excited to see what he'll do with the Morning Star. Speaking of which - the ghost!baby cooing freaked me right the fuck out.
Let me just end with CASTIEL IS A BAD ASS MUTHER FUKER! YEAH!!!!!!!!! HE ROCKED!! NOBODY THREATENS HIS DEAN!!
P.S. Fangirl Becky was hilarious.
P.P.S. Is it just me or is God a Dean/Cas fangirl? Why else would she resurrect the angel after he was . . . uh . . . touched by an Archangel?
