I'm just all over with the memes lately. :) Here's a 2006 in Fanfiction survey from
halfway2home:
First, the stories (oldest to newest):
"
Coffee Break" (Prison Break)
"
A Safe Place" (Prison Break)
"
A Halpert Family Christmas" (The Office)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less, of course. I've always got way more fic swirling around in my head than I ever actually put to paper. School and work get in the way, too.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2005?
Pam and Jim from The Office ... I was a big fan of the British version, and I had decided not to give the American show even a chance when I heard about it. How wrong I was! :)
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I suppose "A Safe Place," but I'm not sure why that is. Maybe it's the one closest to my fic style of old, not the fluffy stuff I seem to be full of lately...
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
Not really. Most of it was pretty much in the vein of the kinds of fic I regularly like to read and write.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
I've got another Office fic that's in the final stages right now, so that one should definitely be done by then. After that, I'm not sure.
From my past year of writing, what was...
My Best Story: I'm not sure. It's especially hard to choose when you've only actually released three stories in a year! I guess maybe "A Safe Place," solely because I've gotten the most feedback from readers on that story.
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: I have no idea. I'm pretty new to both fandoms, so I don't know if I can really measure my level of appreciation overall!
Most fun: The Pam/Jim stuff I'm working on now, actually. I'll throw "A Halpert Family Christmas" in there, too.
Most disappointing: I was pretty happy with all three.
Most sexy: "A Safe Place," without a doubt. No sex -- the emotional content of the story pretty much precluded that -- but the tension is definitely there.
Story With a Single Sexy Moment: I guess it's the previously-mentioned one, when Sara's working up the courage to get in the tub and Michael's sitting beside her, covering his eyes. I don't know if it's really sexy, but I guess the tension's probably there.
Hardest to Write: "A Halpert Family Christmas," because I'm new at writing Pam and Jim. I was completely sure that I'd gotten their characters totally wrong at first.
Most Unintentionally Telling: I think they're all pretty straightforward when it comes to my feelings about the characters and shows!
