If a girl were to say she wanted to read a bunch of classics this winter what would you tell her to read?

Do not ask me to define "classic" just go with what you would consider a classic.

Yes, I am talking about myself.

Is it wrong that I have never heard of this book? I will definitely be checking it out. Thanks!

Pride and Prejudice
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Red Tent (probably not in the 'traditional classic' sense, but after you read it you will see what I mean)
A Tale of Two Cities (from MJM)
Catcher in the Rye (from MJM)
The Jungle (from MJM)
Moby Dick (from MJM)
anything by Hemmingway (from MJM)

Yes! Pride and Prejudice and A Tale of Two Cities were on my list!!! I had thought of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but had forgotten. Now it is on the list. I have had The Red Tent recommended many times... I must read it.

Thanks for your suggestions!!!

Once you've completed your list can you post it for us? I'd love to see it! :)

I am not sure if this is considered a classic or not but I would recommend A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth. It will take you a good chunk of the winter.
