E-owl to Bellatrix headboyneville May 22 2007, 05:06:46 UTC
((OOC: Being singularly paranoid, this message is also hexed completely, so that even someone reading over Neville or Bella's shoulder could not read anything.))

Bella,

Thank you so much! I needed to laugh at someone today! Are you being put upon by your friends so much that you feel the need to try and lash out at me? Awww, poor little thing....

Truely pathetic, Lestrange. You need to take some lessons in bullying from your nephew, I think.

Regards,
Neville Longbottom

P.S. How soon? I'm sure I'll need to put some plastic down for your rabid slober. Can't mess up everything, after all.

Darling Neville,

Aren't you clever!? Using the computer to answer me so you don't get caught sending an owl to a Death Eater?

It's practically adorable the way you disguise your fear as malice. Perfect actually. I'm so proud.

It's quite impossible for me to come to you, though. I doubt you've got the gall to sneak out of school for a tete-a-tete with your dear friend Bella...

How ARE your parents anyway?

In much the same way you disguise madness with civility ( ... )

It really makes no difference to me about the owls. Obviously I won't need them anymore if I can speak to you thus.

I am not afraid to infiltrate Hogwarts. I do my Master's bidding, and it is his wish that I stay by his side.

As to my work being undone, I do not question my Master. He has use of your parents and of you I'd wager.

Which brings me to the purpose of our communication. Lord Voldemort is expecting your reply. I would not keep him waiting if I were you.

I just reread all of our last communication, and it occurs to me that you wanted to talk far beyond just relaying your Master's wishes.

I'm curious, other than your Master's interest in me, what is YOUR interest in me?

My interest is mild curiosity and a burning desire to see what you've become in the absence of parents who are muggle sympathizers.

Oh, this is too cute...

He didn't tell you? How marvelous...

What have I become? I used to be scared of my own shadow, truth be told. Your nephew taught me, early on, what I could expect from "purebloods". I used to be a fairly incompetent wizard, but all that changed when you escaped. It gave me focus and drive I didn't have before that.

I have my own wand now, and I've been learning from the best Auror this century how to fight against people like you.

What I have become is competent, focused, driven, and prepared. What I have learned is that the so-called "purebloods" are no more noble than anyone else, and in fact, are mostly quite despicable. What I know is that purity of blood has nothing to do with competence or power or worth.

Pretty good for a child everyone thought would be a squib, huh?

Don't worry. You'll see exactly what I've become soon enough. I'd move mountains to get my shot at you, once I feel I'm ready.

Oh I do so love a challenge!

You aren't ready now to face me once more?

You misunderstand me. I have always seen great worth in you. I have always known you would becoming something more. You should thank me. Do you think for an instant that you would have had the same drive, such tenacity, had you not had such an earth shattering misfortune early in your life? Hardship breeds perseverance. I know this better than you might think.

I wish to teach you.
