Ahhh... I don't, personally, smoke. Never have. (Was the only person in my year at school who didn't!) But the way the UK government is trying to push people around doesn't help - makes people push back! If I had my way, those who choose to smoke could do so in their own, designated areas away from those who don't. I hate the way at the moment, with smoking banned inside public buildings, all the smokers create a wall of smoke you have to push through to get anywhere. And the cigarette butts EVERYWHERE... Making smokers miserable doesn't make them stop smoking, it makes them determined, pissed off, miserable smokers.

The other thing, if I were supreme ruler of the world, would be to bring the additives in tobacco under VERY strict control, as tight as foods.

Chocolate is my addiction... can't get by without it...

Er, yeah. We're all singers in this family. Smoking is a non-starter. I remember working in offices in London, back in the 70's, when it was normal to be working in a room full of ciggy smoke. Disgusting stuff. Going to the pub meant coming back and tossing every garment straight in the wash, then full hair-wash shower, and still it was in the bloodstream.

As Belle says, the problem with current UK legislation is that it pushes the smokers out onto the street and public places, so EVERYONE is subjected to the stink and mess. By its very nature, smoking should be confined to enclosed spaces where the smoke can be filtered out of the air and kept away from people who DON'T want to rot their lungs.

I'd also like to see all the additives removed from tobacco, so that only pure tobacco smoke was ever available. It'd make life so much nicer for everyone who had to deal with the reek of smokers' breath and clothing.
