I just finished "Travels with Charlie" and "A Passage to India". The first resulted in introspection about my roadtrips and the second was interesting but not really compelling. I'm sure I could give you many book recommendations that are subtle or complicated enough to occupy you for a few days.

Are those the books you took with you on the trip and never once opened?

I checked out a few books on SQL and stuff... I'll be burried in those for a bit. Going to read "If on a winter's night, a traveller" by Calvino soon.

What else would you recommend?

Well, I bought ten or so books in New Orleans and only made it halfway through Graham Greene's "The Comedians" (also highly recommended)... Actually, I recently read "The End of the Affair", also by Greene, and wasn't as impressed, but it still built on some worthwhile themes ( ... )

Yeah... but I really liked Cat's Cradle!

It's been too long since I read Breakfast of Champions or Slaughterhouse 5... So I can't remember how those compare.

I guess Galapagos isn't his best, is it?

No. Cat's Cradle, Sirens of Titan, and Slaughterhouse 5 are my three favorites.
