Royal Baby

I know you'll have all seen the news and pictures of the latest Royal, but as i've posted about the other Royal children over the last few years i thought i would include a few of Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. From what i've read, the child is not to have a title, which is certainly different, just as everything about this couple has ( Read more... )

They do. I still think back on when Edward VIII abdicated the throne because he was in love with and wanted to marry Wallis Simpson, a twice divorced American woman! And now Harry marries an American woman, and one of African descent. Edit: and Meghan is divorced, too, I believe.

I also remember the big deal they made of Princess Diana being a virgin. Probably if all the rules weren't there, Prince Charles would have married Camilla right off, and they would have had children. I suppose the fact that Harry is only 6th in line for the throne makes a difference. I wonder if Prince Charles will ever be King?

Hi Prim. It's crazy when you think back to what rules and regulations were in place when Edward wanted to marry Wallis. Times have certainly changed since then. Definitely a full circle moment when Harry married Meghan. A sign of the times for sure.

If Charles had married Camilla so much heartache for Diana could have been avoided, but there again we wouldn't have had William and Harry and their beautiful children so i suppose all these things have a place somewhere.

I would imagine the only way that Charles would NOT be king would be if his mother oulived him, and the way she's going you never know ;)

It was good to get a peek at the baby today. I'm happy for them.

I wonder if it was the parents' idea for Archie not to have a title, or if that came from the Queen?

Hi Addie. I'm happy for them too, and i'm glad they've done things their way. From a few articles i've read, though it's only guesswork, the general idea is that Harry has always wished that he didn't have the burden of a title, and so in that case would be likely to prefer not give his children one.. but who knows.

he's adorable, isn't he? (is that a little bruise underneath his right eye in one of the pics? rough birth?)

Re Prince Charles ever being King....well, why wouldn't he be? Elizabeth will eventually abdicate, or (sadly) die.

I am a little bemused by "Archie" (have not read up on it yet), but these two are doing things differently and more power to them, I say!

Hi Jan. He's such a cutie.. and yes, now you come to mention it, it does look like a little bruise under his eye. Well, making your way into the world must be a traumatic experience for anyone.. haha. Seriously though, Meghan looks really tired, so yes, maybe it was a rough birth.

I don't think the Queen will abdicate the throne. I have a feeling if she had that in mind then she would have done it before now. I think she'll carry on until the end, however long that may be. Whether Charles gets to be King will depend on whether he outlives her i suppose.

Ha ha.. Yes, good for them. Archie is certainly not a name that anyone thought they would choose. Most thought that they would pick a traditional name, for his first name anyway. But, as usual they suprised us all ;)

I'm with you: i don't believe the Queen will abdicate. But i do think that Charles will be King.

I still haven't had a chance to read up on the *why* of the name choice....one of the journalists on the news this morning said that he thought "whaaaaat?" for a moment, but then said it grew on him and he loves it. I don't know.....but then it's not my child, so not going to worry about it!

Lovely family. They've definitely broken all the rules so far so why not continue; if at some point Archie needs a title then he'll receive one.

Hi Romeny. Yes they certainly like to do things their way. Well, Harry has always been something of a rebel, so it's not surprising really. I wonder what his mother would have thought of it. Given her blessing no doubt.
