I was thinking along the lines of "saying" as the meaning of idiom, not so much as "dialect" - but the truth is, I took so long to find a beautiful saying that I have not yet written it :) But it will be posted sometime over at my journal.

As for language classes - those are better for teaching grammar and less for teaching other things as words and frasing - story-telling.

And - I think you're right, experience is maybe a better teacher in story-telling.
