I do believe your characterisation of Holmes is spot on, especially in such a difficult situation. And of course Watson would send him away, with no regard for his own fate. (there is an episode, somewhere, I believe in the '54 series, where Watson absolutely refuses to let Holmes go on his own to such a foolhardy enterprise... Or is it the Clive Merrison radio adaptation of DEVI... not sure)
And of course Sherlock would turn to Mycroft for advice.
Like your choice of words, too, from what I am able to understand - Holmes tends to use the most complicated words, does he not? It is always a challenge (I can tell... I'm trying to write the most difficult part of my story in Holmes's POV, and that's the reason why it goes so slowly... ;( )
Well done! I stop rambling now ;)

Thank you very much for the encouragement and for the nice words - aye, Holmes is always a challenge, and I tend to prefer Watson's point of view, especially in long fictions (I am a bit lazy as a fanfiction writer. Alright, as a writer. As a person.), but I know your inclination for Holmes's character and - well, thank you :)
As for the episode, even the Granada adaptation of DEVI features "foolhardy scientist Holmes" and "loyal Watson". Do the '54 or the Clive Merrison radio series have some exact adaptation of CHAS, by the way?
And, most important - how are you?

However, it is a joy to discover that once I read it in English, I do understand it in Italian. It a question of vocabulary, really, more so than grammar, since it is quite similar to Spanish, even the conjungation of the verbs.
Getting into Holmes's POV is really not that much different than Watson's, only there is much less original material to go on - two or three stories of Doyle's only. However, over at ff.net there is a writer who has "specialised" on Holmes - Westron Wynde. Her fics are among the best and finest in the whole fandom, here'S the link of the first http ( ... )
