Maybe go back to school? Culinary school? You can specialize in pastry making etc. Also, watch Pushing Daisies - it's a show about a pie maker and its so sweet!!

I've thought about it! Culinary school is a little expensive though... so we'll see. But in the mean time I've resolved to look into working part time at this bakery. I think I can handle two jobs. At least it would be a foot in the door.

If your family has enough money to take care of themselves (IE: Ralph) then now is the perfect time to make that jump. Or work two jobs. That's the option I would choose.
But move in that direction at least slowly.

I agree. Which is why I was looking to work two jobs rather than jump ship. We'll see what happens I guess. Ralph didn't seem to supportive about it. Everyone (Ralph and my parents) seems to think I'm crazy for wanting to leave my job because it's such a safe, well-paying thing. Why I would want to do something with lower pay and no pension is beyond them.
