Just after Christmas, I read Lois McMaster Bujold's Paladin of Souls. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as her Miles Vorkosigan books. I liked CoC the best, too. I was definitely underwhelmed by PoS (although I was predisposed to like the book based on what people were saying about the main character), to the point I avoided reading any more of the series.

I think my attitude toward fantasy has changed over the years. I liked it very much when I was younger, and then there was a point when I began liking urban fantasy and science fiction way more.

I've definitely never been as much of a fan of fantasy as I am of science fiction. And even there, I have a few authors I really love, but I don't read much outside of them.

HH isn't bad, although if you didn't enjoy PoS, then I don't think you'd like it. It's mediocre in the same way HH was; the plot was way too caught up in religion, and not enough attention was focussed on the people themselves. Which is a shame, because people are what LMB does best. Her characters are what set the Vorkosigan saga apart from most sci-fi that I've read. Well, that and her world-building, which is another thing that didn't have its usual brilliance in the Chalion books. The Chalion-verse seemed two-dimensional. And of all the characters from CoC that LMB could have brought into PoS, why the dy Guras?
