I'm out of school for the semester -FINALLY. For the past few days I've just been taking it easy, just reading, watching movies, reading, eating. Never before have I been so relieved to be out of school. So far I've only had one stress dream about it and the rest has been blissful darkness.

Despite the fact I failed this goal during my last summer break, I'm going to give it another try: reading one book a week. I'm almost finished with Amy Tan's Bonesetter's Daughter and have a few more lined up:

Sound and the Fury (I'm going to have to re-read the beginning for the third time)
The Famished Road by Ben Okri
and Stories of God by Rilke

If you aren't familiar with Rainer Maria Rilke, I highly recommend his poetry. It's been said that "Angels dwell in his poetry" and after just reading a few I am beginning to agree. I'm really excited about Sound and the Fury. William Faulkner was really quite an outsider in the literary world for his time. He was an alcoholic and wrote books and stories about unpleasant issues in the South in a funny way, without structure and, often, in a sort of "stream of consciousness" style. Really good. I've already started the Famished Road (during my last summer break), but couldn't finish it. It's a really terrifying read.

I think I've been getting a bit of the old cabin fever. It's just a damn shame there's no where to walk. Just as a warning to my soon to be coffee drinking chums -WE MUST SIT OUTSIDE when we go out sometime soon.

Nothing new to report here. It would just be the same old, same old: "SAMO," as Kat so eloquently put it. We all should be on our knees, thanking Jean-Michel Basquiat right about now.

Oh, Kirry-cat! I finally read your text and I'm sorry you're so sick. Feel better soon. Drink lots of teas like camomile with honey. You probably already know that, but... mreh.
