No brunch I have eaten quite compares with the Nicollet Island Inn, with their Creme Brulée French toast, etc. It could not be said to be for the masses. It would be a special occasion. It is good fuel for a long day of dance, however.
I also found that IHOP is right now serving "stuffed" french toast, which is quite similar to what you describe. This is definitely priced for the masses. :-)

I thought that Granite City had Grand Marnier French toast, but I cannot find it on their menu. I did find a place called Zeno's, which seems to be of moderate cost. http://www.twincitiesrestaurantblog.com/tcrb/2007/07/zeno-cafe-minneapolis-mn.html
