16: Recovery of Strength [Action]

[Simon has been training extra hard since he recovered from the wounds he received when he fought Aku. Today, as usual, he can be seen out at the barracks, thrashing a training dummy with his whip. He's really working hard, too. The dummy is starting to fall apart.]

[And Adell comes in for his normal training routine in spite of the rain, like he always does. ...Then he sees Simon pushing himself. He observes for a few moments. He looks really intense about his training. And that's good. Eventually, he'll approach from the side, but keep a fair distance as to not startle him.]

Good to see you back in action, Simon. Everything healed up?

[Simon gives the dummy one more strike, then turns to talk to Adell.]

Hello, Adell. Yes, I'm back to my full strength.

I'm glad to see that. I'm sorry you got so badly hurt during all of that. Guess I didn't do as great a job protecting you two as I would've liked...

There is no need to worry. I've been hurt worse.

[Terra enters, prepared to start her usual training regimen. She settles on the floor, beginning to stretch, but pauses to watch Simon at work.]

[Simon keeps attacking the dummy for a little while, before noticing Terra. Finally, he turns to her.]

Ah, hello, Terra.

[Terra smiles and nods to him, beginning to go through her stretches again but talking while doing so.]

Hello, Simon! You're making good progress on that dummy. I never realized how effective a whip could be, until I saw you train with one.

[Simon's breathing pretty hard. He decides it's time for a break.]

Thank you. The Vampire Killer is made to fight vampires and demons, but it is also very effective against humans if used properly.

[There is a Kohaku watching you from outside the window...probably from the side you're facing.]

[Simon's pretty focused, but it's not long before he notices Kohaku. Seeing her through the window, he pauses to wave to her.]

*More to himself than anything*

A whip? Hm... it's more effective than I'd have thought.

[Simon strikes the dummy one more time before turning to the speaker.]

The Vampire Killer is no normal whip.

I can see that. You wield it remarkably well.

Thank you. I have been training my whole life.

[Kain has been following Aku's order and keeping an eye out for Simon. Knowing that he's a fighter, the barracks are a good place to check... and sure enough, there's his target.]

[Immediately, Kain charges toward him, spear leveled to attack.]

[Simon's focused on the dummy, but not enough that he doesn't notice an attacker. He dodges quickly, but doesn't counterattack just yet.]

What are you doing!?

[dragoon_pride]

[The expression on Kain's face is crazed, and his only answer is to swing his spear at Simon. Aku's orders were to kill... and what better way to achieve it than through a duel?]

[Simon leaps back, avoiding the spear, and responds by throwing his cross at Kain. If this man wanted a fight, Simon would make sure it wasn't an easy one.]
