Just wanted to say that I LOVE Gilgamesh and that I always get chills up my spine when Gilgamesh and Enkidu fight the mythic bull while still maintaining their cool through prose.
As a filmmaker I would love to adapt this into a film, but it wouldn't nearly come close to the beauty of the original epic.

Hmm.. if you did a film adaptation, would you keep it in it's original context? Or would you have an updated version?

Now I am highly interested in a cleverly-crafted, if not coy, version of Gilgamesh that takes place in a more modern setting. The whole point being that we can learn the same points as the oldest recorded text. The human condition has not changed and neither have our true, underlying struggles. I love how halfway through December I finally come up with a good NaNoWriMo topic. BLAST!

Hahaha, it happened to me too with NaNoWriMo!

I could go for either original or modern context bc I agree, the human elements are the same.

However, I always envisioned it in it's original setting, the imagery is so fantastic, epic and romantic.

Or even this idea, I could film the first half in original, then the flood in modern times. Tough concept to sell to producers, but it could work...
