Well, I'm back :o) No idea when/if I'll be writing/posting the next chapter, but at least this one's done - and boy, I rarely had as much trouble getting words down as this. I could see the end like the end of a tunnel, but it was slooooowww. But it's complete now!

Thank you so much! Excess sentimentality is my bête noire, I have no idea why; grief and sad situations work so much better for me when they're either understated or stated plainly, with as fewer frills as possible - if I did my job right, the impact is uglier and more brutal that way. If :P

I love friendships. I love "rivals-turned-friends-over-time" (Inspectors Lestrade and Gregson come to mind), I love friends who have been friends for decades and are still going strong, I love people who meet and at some point realise they're friends... Give me any friendship trope and chances are I'll love it to pieces :o) So it's not a surprise that I love Don Camillo and Peppone. They're not friends - not exactly - but neither can imagine life without the other, and both will go to any length to help the other if things really get serious. Not that they'll ever admit to it, of course ;o)
