The mister and I went on a little TNG bender last night. It’s fun having the entire series up on Netflix. It makes it very easy to just go through and pick episodes at random, like what you’d run into if you were watching in syndication. I adored Pulaski. Frankly, "female version of Bones" is a character archetype that we just don't see nearly enough on TV. Or anywhere else, really. More cranky older women, dammit!

I can only comment on "The Super Racist Irish One" (ha!), since it's the only one I've seen recently. But indeed, I embraced the camp and did not hate it at all. Also, yes, I suppose Kirk gets his name made into a verb just because he came first, but otherwise it would definitely be Riker. ;-)

I still find Dr. Crusher superior to Dr. Pulaski, but by this point in my (sadly cut off) rewatch, I did like Pulaski whereas I started off loathing her. I had honestly all but forgotten her existence before starting to rewatch the series.

Fair point about Kirk coming first. I think it's one of those things that's made it into pop culture despite not being *technically* true. And I just need to deal. :)

I'm glad that you liked Pulaski more the second time 'round. Hopefully someday you'll be able to keep rewatching!

Yeah, I don't hate Pulaski nearly as much as I did when she first came on the scene in season 2 during our rewatch this past year. She's got some real high points, and I agree that she's excellent in the Irish Stereotype episode (heehee).

The second season has some real clunkers but I still like it more than the first season and the main reason for that is Pulaski. I really don't start to like Crusher until she comes back.
