Haha! So different from me. I can't remember the first book I ever read, but I was reading at like... age 3. My brother could so dammit if I couldn't. In fact, one of my earliest memories is of my dad teaching me to read. So not sure what book I read first... besides my how to read book!

I wonder if that's typical for kids with an older sibling? I feel like the Rani is doing more reading than her brother was at age 3. But then again, I think there's a lot of just rote memorization - she remembers *approximately* what words go with which page so when she "reads" the book, she's really just reciting.

I kind of think it may be similar for second children. At least the desire to do it faster. I mean, a lot of children may read by memorization, but I think in general, second children do things faster just because they learn by example. Who knows. All I know is that I was a strong reader by Kindergarten. And haven't really stopped since!
