It's a little after 5am, and I am awake on Christmas morning (too early)... awoken by a serious bout of thunder & lightening outside.

Strange.

So un-Christmassy.

maybe I can yet fall back asleep for a couple more hours? (pretty please?)

um... I flew back to the US to spend a few weeks with family/friends over the holidays (which I haven't blogged about much - not since my pre-trip rant/post about renting a car in the US and having to pay for the rental company's insurance bacuase I don't have any other insurance coverage that would apply in the US now).

In Florida, where my parents have retired to it is pretty warm now... very un-Chicago-winter (my childhood standard for Christmases)

In Queensland/Brisbane it was hot hot hot (in the 90s) the day I got on the plane to fly here ...and I was flying direct to Korea where it was below freezing, (to stopover for a day and see folks & things I know there from when I lived there before moving to Oz ...and because it was the ONLY frequent flier tickety I could get on late-ish notice between OZ & USA at near-christmas-time)

but I am using my laptop (clock still set to GMT+10) here over the trip... thus the time discrepancies

Ahh Florida..yeah I lived in Clearwater area for a year or two. Christmas there sorta sucked, but I had a decent group of friends that made it better.

I'd love to see Oz someday. Interesting place to end up ;)
